R-Day curbs on candidates

CHENNAI, January 22: Candidates for the forthcoming elections should provide information about previous conviction by a court of law, if any, according to Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K A Mathew.The EC has also banned ministers, chief ministers, state ministers, ex-MPs or any other political functionaries from presiding over Republic Day celebrations at any place within their home district or constituency or from where he intends to contest or is contesting.
