S.A.S. NAGAR, January 22: In its bid to make driving in the township safer, the district police authorities have decided to launch a special drive against traffic violators from next week.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ranbir Singh Khatra, in an exclusive interview with Chandigarh Newsline here today, said that 24 accident-prone points had been identified where the traffic police personnel would be deployed to man the traffic during peak hours.

The deployment of traffic police under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Narender Bhargav will be made on the pattern employed in Chandigarh, he added.

Giving details about the traffic set-up in S.A.S. Nagar, he said at each point one head constable and two constables will be deputed. They would be provided with wireless sets so that message regarding traffic violations can be conveyed easily from one point to other point.
