BJP petitions EC against JD

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BANGALORE, January 23: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today complained to the Election Commission (EC) accusing the Janata Dal of gathering information about the castes and sub-caste of voters.

The booklet published by the Janata Dal highlighting the achievements of H D Deve Gowda as Prime Minister contained a section that sought information on the castes and sub-castes of the reader, BJP spokesman S Suresh Kumar told presspersons. He said he had complained to the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer S K Hajra to check the distribution of the booklets.

The Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman said Chief Minister J H Patel's decision to convene the Assembly session on January 27 was a "political gameplan to rein in the deserters" and also to send out a message for other mischief-mongers.
