Best staffer held for graft A BEST employee was arrested red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday while he was taking bribe from a house owner, falsely accusing him of having a faulty electric meter. The accused, Nanasahib B Mahair (41), was making his routine rounds reading electric metres had demanded Rs 2,000 from one Pandurang N Ingle (60) residing at Sewdee Naka saying that he was not paying the correct bill. Ingle paid Rs 1,000 and asked him to come on January 22 for the rest of money. Meanwhile Ingle informed ACB who laid a trap and arrested Mahair while he was accepting Rs 500. Mahair was produced before Additional chief metropolitan magistrate and has been remanded to the police custody till January 29.One hurt in school bus crash A school bus carrying over 40 school children lost its balanced after the breaks failed and rammed into a electric box injurying one cyclist at Ghatkoper on Friday. The cyclist, Sandeep D Gawde (13) received minor injuries and
had to be admitted to the Rajwadi Hospital. However, police sources said that students were unhurt in the incident. The driver of the bus have been arrested by the Ghatkoper police and bus is being inspected to ascertain the technical fault.2 held in Vaibhav Laxmi scandal Two more agents involved in the `Vaibhav Laxmi money circulation scheme' scam have been arrested by the crime branch on Wednesday. So far, 13 persons including its promoter Ashok Sheregar have been arrested. The accused Sadanand T Khatavkar (40) and Uday T Khatavkar (36) were absconding with their family member since long.
