KOZHIKODE, January 28: R Karthik of TN and Pallavi Shah of Maharashtra emerged leaders in the boys and girls categories respectively with 5.5 points each at the end of the sixth round of the Premier Grip National Junior Chess Championship, here, today.Karthik's elevation was helped by national sub-junior champion P Harikrishna of AP, who eked out a 33-move win over M R Venkatesh of TN in the sixth round.
The win enabled Harikrishna to share second spot with top seed K Sasikiran, and S Kidmabi (both TN) with five points each.
In the girls section, top seed Swati Mohota of West Bengal was a close second behind Pallavi Shah with five points after she recorded an unbelievable 10-move win over her sister and IWM Nisha Mohota in the Three Knights game.
