Sadia stuns Arati

BANGALORE: Former national champion and top seeded Arati Ponnappa was knocked out of the sixth All-India Open Ranking tennis tournament 6-4, 7-5 by unseeded Sadia Pathan in the pre-quarterfinals today.

Results: Anand Radhakrishna (WB) bt R Manoj Kumar (TN) 6-3, 6-3; Marcus Hilbert (Ger) bt D R Jayadev (Kar) 6-3, 6-1; P Srinath (Kar) bt Ravi Kiran Bhat (Kar) 6-4, 6-2; Rishi Sridhar (TN) bt K G Ramesh (TN) 7-5, 6-2; Rohan Wadhera (Mah) bt Armugam (Kar) 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 6-3; Vasudev Reddy bt Rajkumar Goplan (TN) 6-1, 6-4; Gaurav Natekar (Mah) bt Vinod Sridhar (TN) 6-0, 6-4.

TN in final

CHENNAI: Defending champions Karnataka and last year's finalists Tamil Nadu will clash for The Sportstar Trophy in the three-day South Zone under-14 cricket tournament starting on January 30 here.

Both teams have qualified for the title clash by virtue of their first innings lead against Hyderabad and Andhra respectively.
