WASHINGTON, Jan 29: A federal grand jury probing allegations of sex and lies against President Bill Clinton continued grilling officials, as more details of the former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, at the centre of the scandal, emerged. After eight hours of interrogation, former Chief of Staff Leon Panetta told reporters yesterday he knew nothing that would incriminate Clinton.``I'm personally not aware of any improper relationship, sexual or otherwise,'' he said.
Panetta said his testimony was spent ``largely detailing the operations of the White House and the physical setting of the White House'' while he was Chief of Staff.
Lewinsky worked as an unpaid intern in Panetta's office near the Presidential Oval Office when she arrived in Washington in June 1995.
Lewinsky's attorney William Ginsburg continued to seek a response to an immunity deal from the office of investigating special counsel Kenneth Starr. ``We're patiently waiting,'' Ginsburg told CNN Television, adding that he hoped a replyby today or tomorrow.
