Pablo slams seven in Nagarjuna's win

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, Jan 29: Nagarjuna Equisport triumphed over 61 Cavalry `B' by 8 goals to 5 while Oberoi Blues took the measure of Hindustan Times-Kashmir 6-4 in the last quarter-final matches of the Great Eastern Shipping Sir Pratap Singh Cup Tournament at the Jaipur ground on Thursday.

The Cavalry-Nagarjuna match was a keenly contested affair. Pablo Jauretche, a six-goal handicap player from Argentina, played a stellar role for Nagarjuna by scoring seven goals and was undoubtedly the star of the day. Harshwardhan Singh was the other scorer for Nagarjuna.

Atul Gupta played a superb game scoring three goals for 61 Cavalry B team, who started with two goals on handicap. The score at half time was 6-5 in favour of Nagarjuna. And those who hoped for a Cavalry fight-back were disappointed as the Army team could not score in the last two chukkers. On the other hand, it was Equisport who added two goals.

Team with handicap:

Nagarjuna Equisport: Harshwardhan Singh (2), Angad Kalaan (3), PabloJauretche (6), Adhiraj Singh (2).

61 Cavalry B: Navjit Sandhu (3), Manoj Dewan (3), Atul Gupta (3), Sandeep Dewan (1).

Oberoi Blues cracked the whip in the early stages of the game against Hindustan Times-Kashmir. They struck five goals in the opening chukker.

Thereafter they added only one goal in the last chukker and that sufficed them to see them through. The Kashmir team tried their level best to fight back but to no avail. Manupal Godara (4) and Basheer Ali (2) scored for the winners while Carlos Urrea and Roddy Williams scored two goals each for the losers.

Teams with handicap:

Oberoi Blues: Basheer Ali (1), Dhruvpal Godara (4), Manupal Godara (5), Vishal Singh (4).

Hindustan Times-Kashmir (Rajesh Sehgal (1), Roddy Williams (5), Carlos Urrea (6), Vikramaditya (2).
