EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, Feb 4: BJP candidate from Baramati constituency Viraj Kakade on Tuesday said he would emerge as a formidable challenge to Congress nominee Sharad Pawar and ``would give him (Pawar) a run for his money in his hometown''.

A lawyer by profession, Kakade was hopeful that his rapport with the common people in Baramati constituency would help him in outdoing Pawar.``I should not be underestimated,'' Kakade, who accompanied Suresh Kalmadi in the procession taken out from Alka theatre chowk to file the nominations, told The Indian Express.

He said he had held talks with sarpanchs of several villages in Baramati and they had assured him of support. He is contemplating seeking support of Dada Jadhavrao, the Janata Dal MLA from Purander Assembly segment.Local MLA from Indapur Assembly constituency and also the Minister of State for Agriculture Harshavardhan Patil has already supported Kakade by seconding his nomination.
