Manupal, Pablo slam four goals in Essar victory

NEW DELHI, February 5: Pablo Jauretche and Manupal Godara slammed four goals each in Essar Cellphone's emphatic 10-5 1/2 win against ATVJ in the Rao Raja Hanut Singh Cup at the jaipur Polo ground here on Thursday.

Adhiraj Singh and Basheer Ali scored one goal each for the winnersEssar Cellphone is a 14 goal team, and ATVJ a 6 goal team. Even though they had a 5 1/2 goal handicap, ATVJ could not cash in. In the second match, again a one-sided affair, Ramgarh Polo ripped apart Teachers by 5 goals to 3 1/2. Phillip Elliot, with three goals, was the highest scorer for the winners while Lokendra Singh and BP Singh hit home one each. Ramgarh led 4-0 at the end of the first chukker.

For Teachers, Jamie Le Hardy scored two goals while Sanjai Kapur found the target once.

This tournament has attracted a record number of 14 teams, and is the only Cup of its kind in Delhi where there is no handicap limit for entering a team.

Later in the day, ASC-OTA defeated RVC 7 1/2 -2. Balbir Singh (4), Sunny Sidhu (2), andShailendra Singh (1) scored for the winners while Sandeep Kashyap was the lone scorer for the losers who started with a 1/2 goal handicap.
