Probe ordered into school kids' accident

AGENCIES & ENS
SAGAR, February 6: A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the accident in which 30 school children were drowned when a tractor trolley plunged into a rivulet after colliding with a dump truck near here last night.

Police sources said about 75 children were travelling in the ill-fated trolley. While 38 of them reached their homes safely, seven injured were undergoing treatment at the Tili district hospital. Some of the children rushed to the nearby village and informed the people about the accident.

The villagers and military divers later fished out the bodies from about seven feet deep water. Police sources told UNI that the bodies of all the 30 victims have been handed over to their relatives this morning after post-mortem. They pointed out that this was the second major accident at the same spot during the last six months.

Earlier, 17 people were killed when a bus plunged into the same rivulet in June last year.
