Haryana take control

BARODA, February 6: Haryana middle order batsman Rajesh Puri slammed an unbeaten 118 off 252 ball˙to take his team to 212 for two in the first innings at the end of the second day's play in their four-day group-C Ranji Trophy Super League match against hosts Baroda at the IPCL Grounds˙here today.

It was a frustrating day for the hosts who were bowled out for 240 off 104.2 overs in 409 minutes in their first innings after being 212 for eight over night. Baroda had won the toss yesterday.

Puri who slammed his first ton of the season has already added 119 runs for the unbeaten third wicket with the seasoned batsman Amarjeet Kaypee (batting on 52 off 124 balls).

He was also involved in a 93-run second wicket partnership with opener Jatinder Singh (37 off 104 balls) before Jatinder was out lbw to off-spinner Darshan Mulherkar.

Baroda's first innings lasted for˙another 49 minutes today as medium pacer Vineet Jain and left-arm spinner Pradeep Jain wrapped up the tail for the addition of just 28runs.

Haryana started their quest for the first innings lead disastrously losing their opening batsman Parminder Sharma with no score before Puri and Jatinder steadied the innings.
