  BJP dares Sonia for debate
The BJP challenged Sonia Gandhi at the party's daily meeting on February 7, to come forward for a debate on any national issue. It said that Sonia was noncommittal on national issues and was carrying out a "hit and run" campaign and none of the senior Congress leaders were in a position to carry any conviction with the people on any issue.
  EC ban on UP minister; Gill for neutral govt
In an extraordinary decision, the Election Commission (EC) debarred a Uttar Pradesh Minister from entering Pratapgarh district till the end of Lok Sabha polls saying his presence was creating a serious law and order problem. The Chief Election Commissioner Dr M S Gill said the time has come when the country must ponder on the possibility of a neutral government.

Kanshi may have to pay for Ram
Kanshi Ram is having a tough time to woo voters since he is trapped with the marshes of local politics. With the upper cast staying away, the BSP party is likely to face a stiff resistence from the BJP. The BSP leader cannot hope to win simply on the strength of Dalit votes in a place there are few friends among the non-Dalit political elite.
Industry bodies' no to funding
Leading trade and industry associations have shunned the policy to fund political parties and take any initiative in creating poll funds on the lines of those created by industrial houses Tatas and Birlas. Although they are in favour of a transparent and efficient mechanism to fund various parties but donot intend to intiate such a measure on their own.

Caste cracks in Muslim monolith
Laloo Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal may be banking on its tested MYD (Muslim-Yadav-Dalit) combination but for the first time, there are rumblings. Backward Muslims, angry with the way upper-caste Muslims have treated them have launched a protest. Contrary to the perception that they vote as a monolith, Muslims in Bihar are divided.
Congress will dismiss AP Govt if it comes to power: Reddy
The senior Congress leader and former PCC president Y S Rajasekhar has said that if the Congress bags a majority of seats from the State and forms a government at the Centre, it would not hesitate to dismiss Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu from power. There would also be a CBI inquiry to probe the misdeeds of Chandrababu Naidu and his ministerial colleagues.
