LUCKNOW, February 13: Garima Singh, estranged wife of BJP's Amethicandidate, Sanjay Singh, has appealed to the people not to give sanction to her husband's relationship with Amita Modi. "I am his legally-wedded wife and God willing, will remain so till my death. Even the court and people of Amethi have upheld our relations. I don't know what Amita's relation with Rajkumar Sahib (Singh) is," she said today.Her emotional outburst is likely to have a major impact on the race for the prestigious Amethi Lok Sabha seat. More so as Congress workers have already made Singh's marital status an electoral issue. And with only three days for polling day, Singh does not have much time for damage-control exercise.
Slogans like Jo apni Garima ki raksha nahin kar saka, won doosron ki raksha kya karega (How will a person save the honour of others when he can't save the honour of his own wife), have been doing the rounds in Amethi since the start of the campaign. "I don't want to harm his political prospects. Isincerely wish him good luck and appeal to the people of Amethi to vote en masse for him". "I want to make it clear that I haven't compromised with anyone on my marital status and all such propaganda is false," she added.
