  Pak-S Africa Test put off by one day
The first Test between South Africa and Pakistan will start today, a day later than its actual schedule. The match was delayed after two Pakistan players, Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammed Akram, were hurt in a mugging incident outside the team's hotel in Northern Johannesburg on Wednesday night. The incident had left the Pakistani team with only 10 fit players, thus necessitating postponement of the Test's start.
  West Indies make steady start
West Indies made a steady start to be 72 for one at lunch after being sent in by England on the first day of the third cricket Test at Trinidad yesterday. West Indies skipper Brian Lara with 25 and opener Sherwin Campbell with 21 were not out at the end of the session. England's only breakthrough came when Andy Caddick removed Stuart Williams for 24.

Agarkar leads charge with five wickets
Indian medium pace trio of Ajit Agarkar (5-34), Debashish Mohanty (3-47) and N Madukar (2-16) ripped apart Pakistan A for 112 on the first day of the first Test at Rawalpindi yesterday. Pakistan, however, struck back in the post-tea session to claim three Indian wickets, leaving the visitors reeling at 43 for three at stumps.
Paes-Bhupathi in final
Indian doubles stars Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi stormed into the final of the $1 million Dubai tennis Open with a straight set win over Pat Galbriath and Brett Steven 6-4, 6-2 here tonight. The top-seeded Indians set up a title clash with Don Johnson and Fransisco Montona.

IM norm for Neelotpal
Indian chess prodigy Neelotpal Das yesterday managed to secure his maiden International Master Norm. With one round to spare in the 9th Goodricke International Open chess tournament being played at Calcutta, Neelotpal got his norm by playing out a hard fought draw against WGM A Stefanova of Bulgaria.
Bhutia, Biswas likely to join FC Kochin
East Bengal's Baichung Bhutia is likely to be the prize catch for FC Kochin in the coming season. Dipendu Biswas from Mohun Bagan and Sheikh Sanjeeb from the Tata Football Academy have also reportedly agreed to join FC Kochin for the next season. Bhutia will be meeting FC Kochin officials on March 1 in New Delhi to finalise the agreement.
