More security forces deployed in Bihar for polls

PATNA, Feb 19: At least 100 companies of the Central para-military forces would be deployed in the remaining 20 of the 54 Lok Sabha constituencies which go to the poll in the second phase of election in Bihar on February 22, the State Home Secretary, Raj Kumar Singh, said.

Talking to reporters, Singh said that 96.1 companies of the Bihar military police, 395 officers of the district armed police, 664 havildars and 6,555 constables would also be pressed into service to conduct ``free, peaceful and fair'' poll.

Elaborate security arrangements would also be made in Siwan, Motihari, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Hajipur and Gopalganj constituencies identified as sensitive, he said. While 15 companies of para-military forces would take positions in Siwan, Motihari would have 14.2 companies of para-military forces besides 9.2 companies in Sheohar, 14 in Muzaffarpur, 11.2 in Hajipur and 11.2 companies in Gopalganj, Singh added.
