Sri Lanka to curb child prostitution

ASSOCIATED PRESS
COLOMBO, February 20: Seeking to curb child prostitution, Sri Lanka plans to impose a minimum punishment on child abusers, a government minister said. The island is popular with paedophiles. "We really felt the need to amend our criminal laws so that the abusers don't get away," Justice Minister told reporters yesterday.

Peiris said he has recommended a minimum punishment and denial of bail to the accused, lacking in the current law.
