Steady batting by India A

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
RAWALPINDI, February 20: Indian batsmen finally got the vital batting practice denied to them due to continuing downpour, reaching 148 for two in their first innings on the truncated second day of the three-day tie against the Rawalpindi Division Cricket Association here today.

Put in by the hosts, in-form openers Wasim Jafar (37) and skipper Gagan Khoda (36) settled down quickly before retiring to provide chance to the others and left-hander Rohan Gavaskar (37 batting) and Abbas Ali (29 not out) were entrenched at stumps at the Pindi Cricket Ground.

Play could start only a 1415 hours despite a clear day as the pitch was wet. The entire first day's play was washed out.
