Srikrishna report yet to be published: Joshi

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, February 20: Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi has ruled out immediate publication of the Justice Srikrishna Commission report into the 1992-93 communal riots in Mumbai and the subsequent serial blasts. However, the government has no intention of hiding the contents of the report, Joshi told reporters here this evening.

It would be made public after following the laid down procedure, he said. Referring to the Congress demand for its immediate publication, the chief minister, quoting the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952, said that Section six of the Act clearly stated that the report should be placed before the legislature within six months of its submission. He said before tabling the report in the legislature, it has to come before the cabinet and report from the concerned department is sought.
