  Warne looking forward to battle Tendulkar
An interesting battle between ball and bat is on the cards when India and Australia face other in the forthcoming Test series. Australia's star bowler, Shane Warne, while speaking in Mumbai yesterday, claimed that he was eagerly looking forward to bowl to Sachin Tendulkar, paving the ground for some heady stuff in the offing in the next few months.
  Cairns bowls Kiwis to victory
New Zealand recorded their third Test win in succession on home soil when they beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets with a day to spare in the first cricket Test at Wellington's Basin Reserve yesterday. New Zealand, who needed only 20 runs in the second innings to win, reached the target in 3.5 overs without losing any wicket.

Shirov holds fort against Anand
According to latest reports, Vishwanathan Anand was poised for a draw in his Round One game yesterday in the Category 21 Ciudad de Linares Chess Tournament being played in Linares. Anand, with black pieces, was playing Alexei Shirov of Spain. Anand is seeded third in the tournament.
Raman Lamba goes into coma
Former Indian opener Raman Lamba's condition yesterday was described as "very grave" as he slipped into deep coma after an emergency brain surgery here, doctors attending on him said. The 38-year-old Delhi batsman who was operated on the left side of the brain for the severe head injuries he suffered on Friday while fielding has been kept on ventilator support.

Philippoussis to play "old fogey"
Australian Mark Philippoussis upset top-seeded Marcelo Rios 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in the semi-finals of the $700,000 St Jude tournament at Memphis on Saturday. Philippoussis now meets Michael Chang in the final of the tournament. Chang came into the finals, after a hard-fought 7-6 (9-3), 7-6 (7-4) win over Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten earlier on Saturday.
Whiteness becomes a contentious issue in South Africa
The row over the continued "whiteness" in South African sport is raging again. The National Sports Council president, Mluleki George, has warned that he will call for international boycotts if national sports teams do not transform to reflect the new South Africa.
