Pepsi seeks injunction against BCCI

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, Feb 23: Pepsi Foods Limited today told the Bombay High Court that it had legal rights to sponsor the forthcoming triangular cricket series between India, Australia and Zimbabwe. It sought an injunction to prevent the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from granting the sponsorship to any other party.

The petition, filed by Pepsi Foods Limited, was heard by Justice SS Nijjar, who adjourned the matter to Monday to enable the BCCI to file an affidavit in reply.

The board counsel, Goolam Vahanvati, said no sponsorship had so far been awarded to any party for the April 1-14 triangular series and assured sponsorship would not be given to anyone until the court hears the matter on March 2.
