Kalyan was removed to help one man: Vajpayee
Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Atal Behari Vajpayee said the Allahabad High Court verdict reinstating Kalyan Singh as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister was a "well-deserved slap on the face" of state Governor Romesh Bhandari. Vajpayee, who was on a fast unto death, called off his fast in the presence of former president R Venkataraman on Monday.

BJP dares Pawar to dislodge Govt
State BJP spokesman Prakash Jawdekar on Monday dared Congress leader Sharad Pawar to move a no-confidence motion against the alliance government in the forthcoming Assembly session instead of issuing threats every day. Further, Jawdekar ruled out any threat to the alliance government in the State.

Congress promises sops for minorities
Congress spokesperson V N Gadgil on Sunday said that economically and socially backward members of the Muslim community should be considered for the facilities and reservations provided to the Other Backward Classes (OBC). The veteran Parliamentarian said that the Congress would make necessary amendments in the existing laws to ensure that the deprived class from minority communities is extended the facilities provided to OBCs.
