  Gujral running away from President on Bhandari issue
While President K R Narayanan is learnt to have strongly expressed to the Prime Minister his unhappiness with Romesh Bhandari's functioning, I K Gujral has washed his hands off the whole affair. The President is awaiting the advice of the Prime Minister on the continuation of Bhandari as the governor of Uttar Pradesh.
  Battle won, BJP readies for war
Atal Behari Vajpayee broke his two-day fast this evening, saying, "Our stand has been vindicated" after the Allahabad High Court reinstated Kalyan Singh as Chief Minister. The BJP has made it clear that it will continue to agitate for the dismissal of UP Governor Romesh Bhandari.

EC orders repoll in Bihar and UP
The Election Commission on Monday ordered repoll in 327 polling stations in Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar. This was following large-scale complaints of booth capturing. He further announced that a repoll in the Patna constituency would be conducted on March 30.

The Saurashtrian population spread in Varachha, Lambe Hanuman Road and Katargam almost worship former chief minister Keshubhai Patel. Though the Saurashtrians Patels have settled in Surat for decades they still regard Patel as their leader.

Kalmadi on round-the-clock drive to appease SC STs
Kalmadi has been following a punishing schedule during the last phase of his election campaign, targeting those sections whose votes are most likely to be taken for granted by his rival Congressmen. On Sunday, Kalmadi accompanied by former Congress leader B P Maurya, will address rallies of various communities considered traditional Congress vote banks.
Pawar prefers fresh polls over defections
Flush from the success of the Congress's Sunday rally at Shivaji Park Sharad Pawar on Monday announced that his party would prefer to seek a fresh mandate from the people rather than raid other parties to form the next government in Maharashtra. He further added that the Congress was not interested in breaking parties like the BJP.
