Hurriyat arrests
SRINAGAR: Four leaders of the Hurriyat Conference, including chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Umer Farooq, were arrested on Wednesday while two secessionist leaders were placed under ``house arrest''. The Mirwaiz, arrested with Hurriyat chief spokesman Prof Abdul Gani and senior executive member Mohammad Yaseen Malik, was immediately released. A Hurriyat spokesmansaid the administration was ``unnerved'' by the response of the people to the rallies being addressed by the leaders.

AGARTALA: Two central government employees, detained by the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), were released unhurt on Wednesday. Dr S K Pradhan, a senior agro-scientist, and Phani Majumder, an officer of the rubber board, had been abducted by the NLFT on October 21.
