We did not violate poll code

Express News Service
February 27: Pramod Mahajan today said that neither he nor Deputy CM Gopinath Munde has violated the code of conduct while campaigning in the North-East LS constituency.

The BJP leader also denied the charge of his rival Congress nominee Gurudas Kamat that the BJP or Munde held a meeting near or inside a mosque in Chembur area. ``Certainly, as a citizen, Munde has a right to visit any of the constituencies. However, it is absolutely false that he held a meeting inside the mosque to woo Muslims,'' Mahajan added.Kamat, on the other hand, alleged that Munde made an attempt to address a public meeting near Vashi naka after the expiry of the campaign period on Thursday in violation of the code.

``In fact, he went to Farooqui lane. He had to leave in a rush when local residents protested,'' Kamat alleged. Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer D K Shankaran said his office has received a large number of complaints. ``We have handed over all the complaints to the poll observers appointed by the EC,'' he added.
