The Indians remained clueless about penalty-corner conversions as they crashed to their second successive defeat in two days to Pakistan in the eight-Test hockey series. It was again a story of Indian dominance that ended in heartburn and dejection at the Army Stadium at Rawalpindi in Pakistan. Pakistan obtain a 2-0 series lead as rivals miss a penalty stroke.
  Mushtaq spins trouble for SA
Mushtaq Ahmad produced a dazzling display of leg-spin bowling to take Pakistan to the brink of victory on the fourth day of the second Test against South Africa yesterday. Mushtaq took six for 66 as South Africa, chasing 255 for victory, collapsed to 186 for eight.

Sampras, Enqvist in title clash
For the sixth time in nine years, defending champion Pete Sampras has reached the final of the Advanta Tennis Championships, where he will face third seed Thomas Enqvist of Sweden, the 1995 champion.
Ramprakash saves England the blushes
Mark Ramprakash hit an unbeaten 64 to save England from the ignominy of a follow-on on the third day of the fourth Test against West Indies yesterday. The England hopes hung in the balance at lunch when they were 150 for nine. West Indies made 352 in their first innings.
