China to cut troops in three years
China yesterday pledged to implement its earlier commitment to cut its troops by five lakh and engage in `friendly and good-neighbourly relations' with bordering countries while resisting all forms of hegemonism and power politics. The news was communicated when the Premier Li Peng announced, "We shall complete on schedule the task of reducing our armed forces by 500,000 persons within three years".

Zardari now faces fresh bribery charges in gold import contract
Pakistan's anti-corruption bureau has claimed to have unearthed another illegal deal involving millions of dollars allegedly committed by Asif Ali Zardari, husband of former premier, Benazir Bhutto, following arrest of a former bank chief by Interpol in Australia.
