Kesri baiters now hound his proteges

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, March 13: With All India Congress Committee president Sitaram Kesri on his way out, efforts are on to ensure the ouster of all his proteges. The rebellion has now spread to the youth wing and the National Students Union of India The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) is a divided house, with veteran leaders like Jag Parvesh Chandra, Tajdar Babar, Deep Chand Bandhu, Ramvir Singh Bhiduri, Mahinder Singh Sathi said to be gunning for the present DPCC president Choudhary Prem Singh. He is considered to be close to Kesri. With Sonia set to take over the helm of affairs, these leaders want her to choose the DPCC president.

There are also doubts about the staying power of the young NSUI president, Alka Kapoor nee Lamba. Kapoor, the former Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) president, catapulted to fame after being suddenly appointed as the national president of NSUI by Kesri.

Now with one master stroke, Kesri baiters want to get rid of all Kesri proteges, laying the blame for the Congress'failure in the Capital squarely on their shoulders. DPCC president Prem Singh has adopted a tough stance but with AICC awaiting a new head, matters of the Delhi state are in a state of flux. Both Prem Singh and his detractors are amassing all possible support for the battle royale, once the AICC starts functioning.

To counter the salvo, Prem Singh is using the newly elected Congress MLA from Ghonda, Bhishma Sharma. Enthused by his victory Sharma launched a direct attack on all Prem Singh detractors.
