Coalitions can't solve inter-state disputes: Tohra

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
ANANDPURSAHIB, Mar 13: Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) president Gurcharan Singh Tohra today said that no coalition government at the Centre would be in a position to solve various inter-state disputes.

The inter-state disputes of various states, including Punjab and Tamil Nadu, would remain unresolved due to multiplicity of parties that would come to power at the Centre, Tohra told reporters after the Akali Dal hola mohalla conference here. Asked if Punjab's territorial and river water disputes would get resolved if the BJP-led coalition government was formed at the Centre, he said it would try to get the river water and territorial disputes resolved at the earliest.

In reply to a question, he said he would not join the BJP-led coalition government at the Centre or in the state ``at any cost.''
