Urea arbitrationNEW DELHI: Closed door arbitration proceedings began on Monday to settle the claim of state-owned National Fertiliser Limited (NFL) for recovery of Rs 133 crore from Turkish firm Karsan Ltd for failing to honour the urea import contract. The international arbitral tribunal (IAT), which is conducting the proceedings at a five star hotel here, would simultaneously decide counter claims of Karsan for compensation from the Indian company for breach of the two million tonne urea import deal. The tribunal proceedings started with examining the NFL officials engaged in the urea import deal.

BANGALORE: Three persons, including two engineers, were killed and 15 others injured when a building under construction collapsed at the Indian Institute of Science campus here today. Service of the army was requisitioned to extricate the bodies entangled in the debris, said IIS director Dr G Padmanabhan.

BANGALORE: The KarnatakaLegislative Assembly was in for a shock on Monday when two of the ruling Janata Dal members, including the Deputy Speaker Chandrashekara Mamani, pleaded with the government for protection for their lives and their families, alleging that they had received threatening calls.
