Basra new Western Air Command SASO

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
NEW DELHI, MARCH 16: Air marshal D S Basra has taken over as the new Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) of the New Delhi-based Western Air Command today.

He was earlier SASO at the Shillong-based Eastern Air Command. Basra who joined the IAF in 1962 is a graduate of the Superior College of Air Warfare and Inter Armies, Paris. His profile includes command and staff appointments, including Air Officer Commanding of a fighter base, Deputy Director of Air Staff Inspection and Director Offensive Operations at Air HQs.

He was a founder member of the Tactics and Combat Development and Training Establishment. He has logged more than 3,700 flying hours as a fighter pilot on the MIG-21/23/25, Jaguar, Mirage and F-86 Sabre.
