NEW DELHI, MARCH 16: Simi Mehra continued her fine show at the Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA) Tour, when she finished a creditable joint 12th at the $ 500,000 Welch's Circle K Championship at the Randolph Golf Course in Tueson, Arizona.Simi, the first Indian women golfer to qualify for this highest-grade ladies Tour, had registered her best finish two weeks ago when she ended fourth in the $ 700,000 Australian Ladies Masters Golf Championship in Ashmore, Queensland.
Simi, who received a full exempt at the LPGA Tour only this year, aggregated 10-under par for the tournament. She had opening rounds of five under par 67 followed by an even-par 72, two under 70 and three under par 69. This was her best finish on the US soil.
She had a similar tally in the Australian Masters a week ago and in fact has now tallied 22 under par in her last seven rounds, a feat few golfers can boast of.
Her performance was hampered as she had developed a flu due to change in climatic conditions fromAustralia to the hot conditions of Arizona. This, however, did not seem to show on the result.
The winner was Helen Alfredson with an aggregate score of 14 under par at 274.
Simi will feature in next week's Standard Registered Ping Tournament to be held over Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona with a prize money of $ 850,000.
