MUMBAI, March 20: In a nail-biting encounter, Anand Ferrao (+55) won the first frame on the black ball and lost the second also on the black ball. But he managed to clinch the issue on the pink in the decider.Ferrao won the fourth-round tie against Yusuf Ajdari (+45) at 107-93, 102-106, 98-82 in the Anthony D'Cruz Open handicap snooker tournament, sponsored by TBZ Jhaveri Bazar and Bharat Petroleum, at the Catholic Gymkhana, today.
In another interesting fourth-round match, fancied Yasin Merchant (-5) was given a scare by Kaizad Fitter (+40) before winning his fourth-round match at 57-81, 94-83, 92-59.
Merchant, who was down by a frame would have made his exit, but fortunately for him Kaizad let him off the hook when he missed the black at a crucial stage in the second game.

Polo tourneys
The headquarters of Maharashtra and Gujarat area and Amateur's Rider's Club will be jointly conducting the 53rd Annual Horse Show and Polo tournament at the Mahalakshmi Race Course from March 22 to April 15. Leading Polo teams and competitors from all over the country will participate in equestrian events and polo tournament.
Indian Polo Association has allotted the President's Polo Cup, an open high goal tournament, to the city. A handful of foreign players with handicap from Argentina and England are also expected to join the various teams.Some exhibition polo games will also be organised. Teams from Oberoi, Piramal, Jindal, Jodhpur, Mewar and Army are expected to join.
The Polo Tournament schedule: Willingdon (Mar 23-26); Southern Command Cup (Mar 30-April 3); The President's Cup (April 6-9);Indian Navy Polo Stick (April 10-15); HV Mariwala Cup (April 10). The Polo tournament will also be interspersed with equestrian events like show jumping, dressage, tent pegging for which the Army teams are primarily taking part and also club sports events.
