  Windies in command
The West Indies took complete control of the final Test against England yesterday, the third morning of the contest. The home side moved from their overnight 126 for zero to 236 for one by lunch in reply to England's paltry 127 and had already closed out any chance of a comeback by Mike Atherton's side.
  Waseem rescues Pak
Mohammad Waseem held Pakistan together with a gritty innings of 96 not out on the second day of the second test against Zimbabwe yesterday. Waseem, who batted for a little under six hours, faced 244 balls and struck nine fours in an innings which took Pakistan to 190 for the loss of eight wickets at the end of the day's play.

Plot to bomb World Cup uncovered
European police forces acting in tandem have uncovered a plot by Islamic extremists to mount a terror campaign against the World Soccer Cup to be held in France in June this summer. World Cup brouchers, plans of various stadia and a large quantity of liquid explosives have been seized by Belgium police in raids on houses in Brussels.
Sri Lanka face stiff task
Opener Maravan Atapattu kept alive Sri Lanka's hopes of pulling off an improbable victory with an unbeaten half-century on the fourth day of the first Test against South Africa at Newlands yesterday. Sri Lanka, chasing 377 to win, lost two early wickets before their innings was revived by a third wicket stand of 71 between Atapattu and Aravinda De Silva(37).

Leander Paes crashes out
Indian ace Leander Paes crashed out of the Lipton Tennis Championship in Key Biscayne on Saturday following a straight-sets dismissal by seventh-seed Swede Jonas Bjorkman. Paes, the Olympic bronze medallist found a tough opponent in Bjorkman who dropped only seven games for a 6-3 6-4 victory.
Jadeja obliges with ton
Sporting a bright red cap impishly tilted to the right, Ajay Jadeja lend just the right dash of colour to what turned out to be a huge desert festival at the Sukhadia Stadium in Bhilwara yesterday. Jadeja's stylish 109 helped the Board President's XI to make 339 runs in their Wills Trophy match against Wills XI who could only manage 288 in their reply.
