IUML for joint struggle to curb terrorism

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
KOZHIKODE, April 6: The Indian Union Muslim League working committee, expressing deep concern over the rising tendency of extremism and terrorism in various parts of the country including Kerala, has called upon all political parties to put up a joint fight against such elements.

The working committee, in a resolution at its meeting here the other day, said that the continuing incidents of bomb explosions and use of arms has caused alarm in public life, which the party felt would have to be resisted by all political, social and religious organisations on a joint platform. The IUML was prepared to work with other parties including the Congress, the CPM and others in such a movement, the party leaders said.

The party said the law would have to take its own course when asked about the police action against PDP leader Abdul Nazer Madani and others in connection with the Coimbatore serial blasts case. Party general secretary Korambayil Ahammed Haji, Assembly party leader PK Kunhalikkutty and secretariat memberAbdusamad Samadani, said that the IUML had resisted the moves to bring the PDP into the UDF during the last polls. They said the IUML had firmly resisted compromise with forces of extremism and terrorism, whether it came from the minorities or the majority community. They also pointed out that even the CPM had appreciated the IUML for its opposition to all acts of terrorism which harmed the interests of the society.
