Haq, nicknamed "Inzy", hammered 116 not out off 110 balls as Pakistan achieved their highest winning total in the second innings of a one-day match.

Sri Lanka had seemingly made a safe total of 295 for seven with skipper Arjuna Ranatunga making 86 off 82 balls.

Pakistan had to make their runs in 49 overs after being penalised one over because of a slow over rate during Sri Lanka's innings.

With a slow outfield making it difficult to hit fours, Pakistan elected for the aerial route on a small ground, hitting 11 sixes, with Inzamam and Ijaz Ahmed, who made 59, striking four each.

Earlier, Ranatunga and Aravinda de Silvaadded 142 for the third wicket after openers Sanath Jayasuriya (57) and Romesh Kaluwitharana (54) had laid a solid platform of 107 from as manydeliveries.
