ICICI, IDBI sanctions, disbursals up

MUMBAI, April 7: Sanctions by IDBI and ICICI have gone up by 41.3 per cent and 81 per cent respectively during 1997-98 due to the increased financing of infrastructure projects. Disbursements have also gone up to 32.2 per cent and 41 per cent respectively. During the year, ICICI's disbursements aggregated Rs 15,087 crore, as against Rs 11,181 crore in 1996-97 and approvals aggregated Rs 25,532 crore as against Rs 14,084 crore. In the case of ICICI, project financing disbursals to the manufacturing sector accounted for 33.1 per cent of disbursements.

In the case of IDBI, the growth is against a four per cent negative growth in sanctions and seven per cent growth in disbursals during 1996-97. The institution's sanctions which stood at Rs 17,050 crore in 1996-97 leaped to Rs 24,097 crore in 1997-98 while disbursals rose to Rs 15,119 crore from Rs 11,439 crore. The infrastructure sector accounted for 32 per cent of IDBI sanctions.
