  Interpol to help nail Clarke
Sri Lanka has sought Interpol's assistance to investigate allegations of paedophilia against science-fiction writer Arthur C Clarke. It is reported that the police Department had contacted Interpol in order to obtain the tape-recording of an interview to a British tabloid in which Clarke reportedly admitted that he had had sex with minor boys.
  Washington regrets Pak's nuclear missile test
Regretting Pakistan's test firing of surface-to-surface Ghauri missile, the United States has urged India and Pakistan "to exercise restraint" and avoid taking any steps in the nuclear and missile field that might adversely affect regional stability.

Russian President Boris Yeltsin strongly defended his nominee for prime minister Sergei Kiriyenko at a round table meeting with the parliamentary, regional and trade union leaders in the Kremlin and urged them to support him.
Policemen charged with murder of youth
The Maharashtra State Criminal Investigation Department (Crime) recently has filed a case against four policemen, three of whom were earlier attached to the Railway Police Station, accusing them of having robbed and murdered a resident of Andhra Pradesh who was returning to his native place from his workplace in the Gulf.

Prasar Bharati alleges Govt "manhandling"
Vehemently criticising the BJP-led coalition government's posture on the Prasar Bharati Corporation (PBC), a senior PBC Board member said that the ruling parties at the Centre, especially the BJP, were trying to "use" it to get "political mileage". Another member alleged that "instead of making the PBC more accountable and transparent, the main idea before the government is how to dominate and who will dominate the corporation,".
India won't tolerate Pak meddling with security
India unleashed a stinging retort to Pakistan's official claims that it had test-fired the "Ghauri" middle-range missile, saying it would take "resolute steps to meet any threat to its national security."
