Jagannath Das
HYDERABAD, April 9: Hyderabad squared off against Karnataka in their Ranji Trophy cricket semi-final encounter that was full of application but had little adventure on Day One of the five-day match at the Gymkhana here today. The home side, who won an important toss in the morning and then deciding to bat first, meandered on to score 200 for three in 90 overs.

At the crease with an unfinished stand of 65 runs for the fourth wicket were skipper MV Sridhar on 40 (112b, 132m, 6x4) and Vanka Pratap on 27 (164m, 127b, 2x4).

Of the three wickets that fell on the day, left-handed opener Arvind Shetty, who was finally among the runs with a watchful 58 (227m, 163b, 11x4), was a run-out victim.
