Marathi meet from April 24

AURANGABAD, April 9: Noted Urdu poet and Dyanpeeth awardee Sardar Ali Jafri will inaugurate the three-day 71st All India Marathi Literary Conference to be held at Parli-Vaijnath from April 24.

Giving details about the conference, Deputy Chief Minister and Reception Committee President Gopinath Munde told newsmen last night here that noted Bengali writer Mahashweta Devi, who is also a recipient of the Dyanpeeth Award, will be chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the conference.

Symposia, poetry recital sessions and programmes of folk artistes will be organised during the conference and noted singer Asha Bhosale will give a performance on April 26, he added.

About 4,000 writers and litterateurs will attend the conference which will be covered live by Doordarshan.
