Plight of Doda migrants

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
JAMMU, April 9: Even after suffering severely at the hand of militants, the migrants from Doda are yet to get the much-hyped migrant status unlike those who had to migrate from the Valley. The exodus started with the killing of 17 persons by foreign mercenaries in August 1993. According to recent estimates at least 1,064 families have migrated. Put up in makeshift arrangements like tents, these migrants are today braving all odds sans any aid from the Government. Though these families have launched an arduous struggle for migrant status ever since they sought refuge in the city, they have been denied relief by the Government.
