Sena corporators elected to BMC committees

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, April 11: Senior Shiv Sena corporators Ram Mhatre and Sadhana Mane were today elected as the chairpersons of the Standing Committee and Education Committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation respectively.

Mhatre, who got 17 votes, beat his Congress rival Vidyarthi Singh who got nine votes. Mane got 16 votes, defeating Congress's Suresh Koparkar who secured eight. Earlier, it seemed as if the election to the coveted post of the chairman of the Standing Committee would be a showdown between the ruling Sena-BJP alliance, as Standing Committee chairman, BJP's Sardar Tarasingh, had filed papers seeking re-election.
