Police foils ISI plot to subvert Mahakumbh

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
HARIDWAR, April 12: As tens of thousands of pilgrims thronged this holy city for Mahakumbh on Tuesday, police today claimed to have unearthed a plot to disrupt the ceremony with the arrest of a suspected Pakistan-backed Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agent and recovered arms and ammunition from him.

Police identified the suspect as Naeem Ali of Haldwani in Uttar Pradesh and said he was arrested from "hari ki pauri" (the stair of god), the main ghat for the holy ablutions, here early this morning.

Two country-made bombs, two country-made revolvers, some live cartridges and a dagger were recovered from him.
