Yadav clinches hat-trick of titles

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, April 12: Satendra Kumar Yadav of Navy warded off whatever little threat that Delhi's Jaspal Rana was posing, particularly in the last two shots, to win the 50-metre free pistol gold (Open) in the 41st National Shooting Championship at the Dr Karni Singh Range here today.

This, in effect, enabled him to retain the title for the third time in succession and also push Rana to the second spot, as in the previous year. The bronze was taken by Parvinder Singh of the BSF.

The Navyman, combining with Tapas Kumar Sikdar and Binod Kumar Singh, also helped his team win the gold in the Open category.

The other individual gold went to Charan Singh of the Army in the Open category of the 10m air rifle event while Mahavir Singh, also of the Army, clinched the silver but a clean sweep of medals was prevented by Maharashtra's Chetan Deshmukh, who won the bronze in a tie-break.
