Rajput, Dani star in Bombay Gym's victory

MUMBAI, April 12: An unbeaten 156 by Lalchand Rajput and all-round performance by Amit Dani helped hosts Bombay Gymkhana beat Hindu Gymkhana by five wickets to enter the semi-finals of the RFS Talyarkhan Memorial Invitational tournament (50 overs) at Azad Maidan on Sunday. Hindu Gymkhana, batting first, made 333 for five wickets in 50 overs, thanks mainly to an unbeaten century by Pankaj Desai (105, 12x4), Tushar Jhaveri (89, 1x6, 9x4) and Sameer Loyalka (70, 10x4).

Brief scores: MCA Colts 174 in 44.1 overs (Nishit Shetty 53, Hakim Khan 3-11, Dushyant Patel 5-45) bt CCI 132 in 45.4 overs.

Parsee Gymkhana 216 (Ajit Kolte 31, K Wadia 33, Anant Tiwari 51, Jayesh Dadarkar 31, S Wasim 3-33) lost to Islam Gymkhana 218-3 (Nilesh asurkar not out 81, Zahid Sheikh 40).

P J Hindu Gymkhana 333-5 in 50 overs (Pankaj Desai not out 105, Tushar Jhaveri 89, Sameer Loyalka 70; Amit Dani 4-56) lost to Bombay Gymkhana 335-5 in 48.4 overs (Vijay Nayudu 33, Amit Dani 73, LalchandRajput not out 156).

MIG, Bandra 238 in 49.3 overs (Sandeep Patil 91, Chandu Pandit 37; Maroof Khan 4-40) lost to Catholic Gymkhana 256-8 in 50 overs (Maroof Khan 54, Manoj Joglekar 84)
