Warne doubtful for Sharjah

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
SYDNEY, April 12: Australian Shane Warne, whose reputation as world class leg-spinner has been destroyed by Indian batsmen in the current tour, is almost certain to miss the Sharjah tour because of a reported shoulder injury.

Warne suffered shoulder ligament damage while attempting a catch during Australia's 16-run win over Zimbabwe in the ongoing tri-series yesterday and would have to undergo arthroscopic surgery later this year and would not be able to play for four-months.

Though Australian physio Errol Alcott has expressed confidence the spinner would take field against his tormentors in the triangular series final on Tuesday, he has ruled out Sharjah assignment for him.

``Shane will play the final (against India) come rain, hail or shine but there is lot of doubt on Sharjah,'' Alcott was quoted by Australian news agency AAP as saying.

``It could be a four-month rehabilitation, but if he's got tendon damage then it could be longer,'' Alcott said.
