NEW DELHI, April 12: Navjot Sidhu, recalled into the team for the injured Vinod Kambli, is expected to bat lower down the order. ``Sidhu will bat at number four or five,'' Indian cricket team coach Anshuman Gaekwad said here today. ``There is no question of disturbing the top three,'' Gaekwad added.Captain Mohammed Azharuddin also said that the Punjab opener could even bat at number five. Both, Azharuddin and Gaekwad, said that the team was determined to clinch the Pepsi triseries final against Australia on Tuesday. ``There is an exception to every rule, and the boys are keen to ensure that the effort put in till now does not go waste,' commented Gaekwad when asked whether the team was worried about the law of averages would catching up with them.
``We are very positive going into the match. We have to do more than what we have done so far. All the boys are fully charged up,'' Azharuddin said after the team had a hectic work-out at the Ferozshah Kotla today.
However, Gaekwad expressed unhappiness withthe practice nets provided at the Kotla, and said that the Indians were contemplating training elsewhere tomorrow. ``The ball is not rising above ankle height,'' he said.
All members, barring batsman VVS Laxman, whose flight was delayed due to a technical snag, were present at the nets.
Asked whether Australia held the upper hand as the wicket to be used on Tuesday will be the same as the one on which the Kangaroos beat Zimbabwe in the last league tie to make the final, Azhar and Gaekwad agreed the visitors would have a better idea.
``But we have played a number of times over the years and we also know how the track behaves,'' Azhar added.
The Indian captain praised the young bowlers for their good work in the series. ``The young boys have responded to the job very well,'' he said. He said that all-rounder Hrishikesh Kanitkar, left-arm spinner Rahul Sanghvi and paceman Ajit Agarkar had played a ``major role in the Indian wins''.However, Azhar pointed that fielding still needed a lot of improvement.``It remains 50-50, but they have to work really hard, not just in the camp or training, but even when they go home,'' he said.
Asked about the ground quality after the pitch committee under Kapil Dev was formed, the skipper said, ``There is 100 per cent improvement. Some grounds are still uneven, but I feel that will be set right soon.''
