HYDERABAD, April 12: The All India Majlise-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi today demanded a judicial enquiry by a High Court judge into the alleged torching of a person by police in the city on Friday.Talking to mediapersons here, Owaisi alleged that the law and order situation in the state, especially in the twin-cities, had worsened after the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) decided to support the Bharatiya Janata Party Government at the Centre.
The situation in the city had been tense after three policemen, attached to Central crime station here, allegedly caught hold of Fareed Khan, brother of an absconding dossier criminal Rasheed Khan, and set him on fire after dousing him with petrol.
Fareed Khan succumbed to his injuries in a hospital here yesterday. Twenty-three incidents of murder and rape had taken place in different parts of the state since then, Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi said.
He added that the MIM would organise a bandh after discussing the matter with otherparties in the state to protest against the worsening law and order situation here.
MIM would join the proposed alternative third front being planned by the Left parties in the state to fight both the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party and Telugu Desam Party, Sultan Owaisi said. The MIM president also added that he was holding talks in this regard with the concerned parties and a decision would be reached soon.
