Tripura militants kill two, attack police outpost

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
AGARTALA, April 12: Unidentified militants killed two persons including a child, attacked a police outpost and torched houses and shops in simultaneous operations at Pitrabazar area in south Tripura district early today.

A group of militants opened fire at the Pitra police outpost preventing them from countering other operations, in which another group rampaged the village, killing one Sasadev Sharma and his six-year old daughter Aparna and injuring two others, a police report reaching here said. While the non-tribal man and his daughter died on the spot, one of the two injured was rushed to the Udaipur district headquarters hospital in a critical condition, the police report said.

The militants also set ablaze a number of houses and shops in the market area of Pitrababazar, about 70 km from here, at around 4.00 am. About 500 rounds were fired from both sides during the attack on the police outpost.
