Assembly polls won't be advanced, asserts Naidu

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
HYDERABAD, April 18: Telugu Desam Party chief and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has ruled out the possibility of an early election in the State.

Addressing TDP leaders from Hindupur and Bapatla Lok Sabha constituencies at the party headquarters here on Friday, Naidu referred to the comments made by senior Congress leader Sharad Pawar that early elections were likely to the AP Assembly.

As per the schedule, the life of the Assembly expires only by December next. ``On what basis he (Pawar) made these comments I do not know. He was only trying to mislead the people by making such false statements,'' he said.

Quoting a pre-poll survey conducted by an organisation recently, Naidu said that the TDP would sweep Assembly polls whenever they were held. Various developmental activities taken up by his Government in the State would yield results in the next one-and-half years, he claimed.

On the strained relations between the TDP and the Left parties in the State, the TDP president reiterated his chargethat the United Front (UF) constituents came closer to the Congress after the Lok Sabha polls. In view of the local compulsions, such combination was not acceptable to the TDP, he said.

The TDP had not done anything to alienate the Left .

``It is their decision to sever ties with us,'' he asserted. Stating that the mistakes if any of the Government would be rectified, he asked the leaders to be prepared to go alone in the next Assembly polls.
